Information for young people
GCSEs, Young Apprenticeships, A levels, Diplomas, Apprenticeships, BTECs, Degrees …….
There’s so many courses to choose from, it can make the process of choosing your options overwhelming.
For most young people, there are three main “transition” points that you will be faced with.
Options at 13+ - this will be in Year 8 or 9 and most commonly known as GCSE options.
However, if many school there are lots of other choices as well as the traditional subjects.
Options at 16+ - or Year 11 options.
Whether to stay at school, go to college or apply for a work based training course - there are the three main routes. Staying in some form of “learning” between 16 and 18 is considered so important these days, that from 2013, the government have made it compulsory.
Options at 18+
- choices can include work, Higher Education, gap year or Apprenticeships. These decisions can have a significant effect on your career and your finances.
